Indian cricket team is having a golden run for the last few seasons. It all started with Saurav Ganguly taking over the captaincy. However, MS Dhoni has taken the team to a new horizon of success and belief. The team has developed a unique self belief in their abilities. The members are enjoying each other's success like never before. The dressing room atmosphere is just there to be seen. It seems all so smooth and easy now, but when Dhoni began his stint it was a huge challenge to bring new ideas without rubbing against the ego's of the senior members some of whom had led the team in the past. Dhoni set about by putting the ground rules very clear from the outset. He made it clear both in field and off it that performance will be the only parameters for place in the team. At the same side, he never missed a chance to show his respect for the seniors and their accomplishments.
So what has really changed in Indian cricket? Professionalism is the one word answer for it. Winning is no more a desire anymore, it has become the basic requirement. The cricket fraternity has been taken by surprise by this aggressive bunch of Indian cricketers who enjoy bullying the opponents into submission. Gone are the days when Indian cricketers were the epitome of gentlemanship. Today's bunch believes in giving it back in its own ways. Earlier such incidents would result in distractions and loss of concentration of our players. Now they propel our players to a new competitiveness and increase the resoluteness. The best example would be Yuvraj Singh smashing Stuart Board for 6 sixes in an over after a tiff off with Andrew Flintoff. This brand of aggressive cricket has made the Indian team one of the most exciting teams in the world. Another stark feature of this team is new found consistency. We were used to watch the performance of Indian team oscillate between sheer brilliance and pure mediocrity. Now the team is a firm believer in the term "Winning habit". They fight out of their skins not to lose this habit.
We can easily say this is the best ever Indian cricket team one has seen. They have conquered all teams in all conditions in the last few years. India is now the "team to beat".
